Role Overview
The Open Neuromorphic Research (ONR) program is a community-driven feed that highlights engaging, open-source neuromorphic research.
As an ONR Reviewer and Content Moderator, you act as the crucial human-in-the-loop before an automated entry goes live on our website. You won’t be conducting heavy scientific peer review; instead, you will be conducting Quality Assurance (QA) to verify that a paper’s code is truly open-source, assigning the correct Gold/Silver tier based on its license, and ensuring our AI-generated summaries accurately reflect the community’s discussion.
Responsibilities
- Open-Source Verification: Manually check GitHub/GitLab links to ensure code and datasets are publicly accessible.
- Tier Assignment: Determine if the project receives the Gold badge (fully permissive, e.g., MIT, CC-BY) or the Silver badge (contains restrictions like Non-Commercial or No-Derivatives).
- Summary Moderation: Read the AI-generated summaries of Discord discussions (
#onr-research) and edit them for accuracy, neutral tone, and formatting before approving the Pull Request. - Community Outreach: Reach out to authors of engaging papers whose code is closed or un-licensed, encouraging them to adopt an open license so they can be featured.
Who We’re Looking For
- Individuals with a strong commitment to the principles of open and reproducible science.
- Familiarity with open-source licensing (understanding the difference between MIT, GPL, and CC-BY-NC).
- Excellent written communication skills and an eye for detail.
- Experience with Git/GitHub (reviewing and merging Pull Requests) is highly recommended.
How to Apply
To express your interest, please email us at contact@open-neuromorphic.org with a brief note about your experience with open-source software and GitHub. You can also reach out directly to the Executive Committee in the #onr-research channel on our Discord server.
